Florida: T-minus 20 hours

The count down starts!  The gear is packed, the batteries charged, my new and amazing camera is fabulous and ready to shoot.  Oh yeah, the clothes are packed too.

I am so excited to come home this weekend and we have a LOT planned starting with a funky / grunge session tomorrow night right after we arrive.  Brook & Mikes wedding will take up  Saturday and I can't wait to see what you all have planned!  Sunday we're hanging out with lil Evan and his hot momma Melinda for a kiddie lifestyle session followed by an E-session with a wonderful couple, Danny & Amy.  They are so much fun & artistic.  I have some fun ideas planned for this shoot.  Monday is the last day we will shoot in Florida.  We are starting with a newborn session; lil Miss Rylee made her debut into this world just a few weeks ago!  Later that evening is another E-session:  Matt & Lisa.  You all remember a few weeks ago when we traveled to the Bahama's and I shot Matt, my brother, proposing to his girlfriend?  It's time for their E-session!

So many fun sessions and ideas are brewing in my head that I begin to forget I have a new camera to play with. No, not really.  The camera is amazing, how could I forget?  It is my new best friend and my only true love.  (That's a little much, I know..)

I hope to at least post some sneak peaks on the blog and FB at the end of each night but we are going to have a TON of images to sift through and post - so this time it may take a few extra days.  (If my OCD will allow it)

We'll that's it for now!  I hope everyone has a great weekend and the rain stays away!

Lauren & RJ:: Married! {Ballantyne Hotel}

Congrats to Lauren & RJ.  They had a beautiful wedding at the Ballantyne Hotel in Charlotte, NC.  It was the kind most girls can only dream of.  The ceremony was right off the 18th hole; where you had a view of a fountain, the hotel and the green.  Cocktails and appetizers were served following the ceremony while we got to play with the wedding party.  Finally, the reception. A wonderful meal was served, family & friends danced and laughs were had by all.  It wasn't the women that fought over the bouquet, it was the men that fought over the garter!

Overall, such a beautiful event and we are glad we could be a part of it.  Again, congrats to you, Mr. & Mrs. RJ Waite.  May you have many years of laughter, happiness and love.

Testing: 24-70mm f/2.8

Before meeting Alex for dinner tonight, Gavin and I met her in Greer at the Veterans Memorial Park to test out the new lens.  I have to admit, I like the lens but not for what I was looking to do tonight.  So back to the ol' 50 mm for the shoot and here are some images.  Alex and I will, one day, arrange enough time to do an actual shoot.  Todays only lasted 15 mins & we were some hungry girls!

I did manage to take some great pictures of the park, which I will post later.  Check back in a few days for those and for pictures of tomorrows wedding in Charlotte, NC.

Good night!

TheKnot.com

After 6 months of advertising with TheKnot.com I have made the decision to cancel my account.  The weddings that I have booked have not been from The Knot and while I think the concept behind the web site is fantastic, I just don't feel that right now it is a place I should advertise.  Word of mouth and other free advertising opportunities have sent more business my way.  However, for those who have contacted us already I will continue to offer the 15% discount for being a knot member.

Thanks!

Matt + Lisa:: Engaged! {Bahama's}

My brother and I planned a secret for the cruise to the Bahama's.  He wanted to pop the question to his girlfriend, Lisa.  So conveniently, I told her I wanted to add additional images to my 'couples portfolio' and we would be shooting some pictures on the beach.  No big deal, right?  Well, not until Matt got down on one knee.  She said yes!  It was pretty awesome to be there for the actual moment, photographing it for them so they can always remember it.  Congrats to you, Matt & Lisa.  Can't wait to do your Bridal Portraits, Lisa.  And... Eric will be photographing their wedding, whenever it may be.

Bella’s photo shoot! {Lake Worth FL}

The Lake Worth Pier is reopened and the only one in the area, so I scheduled a shoot  there.  Bad idea.  After going earlier in the day we had to go with plan b, the place was packed.  There was no way a little girl would fare well against all those distractions.  Plan B? .... We went to a small park that backed up against the inter-coastal and it worked out!  While waiting for Rena + family I photographed some pigeons, the draw bridge opening and an older gentleman who broke my heart.  He was sitting on a park bench, with a few bags by his side, and he talked to himself.  He looked like an interesting man so I shot a few of him, which I'll post in my next blog.

Anyways!  Here's a few from lil Bella's photo shoot!

Keep rockin’ & keep knockin’ {Palm Beach FL}

My first session while in Florida this weekend was tonight.  Laura & I (and our three assistants lol) went to the Breakers Hotel in Palm Beach (if you haven't heard of it, google it.  It's beau-ti-ful)   They had no problems with us using their billion dollar hotel as a background.  We then moved to an old gothic style church that was right down the road and I can't wait to go back and shoot there again with my studio lights, it was exactly my style.  Here's a few from Laura's session:

Bachelor & Bachelorette Auction

Last night was such a success.  We started off bad and had to push the time back but I am glad we did!  We were competing with Downtown Alive and the Greenville Drive game but come 8:30 people started showing up and the auction started!  Huge thanks to Frampton for setting up everything at Wild Wing Cafe Greenville, he even hooked us up by getting us on the Downtown Alive stage to give the crowd some info on the event and last nights auction.  Blake the DJ, you were so much fun.  Dino from B93.7 thanks for giving us all the goodies to add to our auction packages, Dino and Blake really kept the crowd going ... many laughs were had by all.  Thank you to Jessica (or Jennifer? .... kidding) from WSPA for coming out to interview me (Eekkk!!!) and help spread the word about Portraits for Heroes.  Thank you to Eric and Sarah for setting up a photo area and helping us to remember this event for years to come.  And... last by not least... thank you to all the people who showed up.  We were so lucky to have a great group of people on the stage being bid on, they made it easy for us!!  If you weren't there, you missed out!  To our highest bidders (they got the tag team Mallorie and Ashley) here's a picture to remember the night.  And thank you to all those bidding, whether you won or not your support did not go unnoticed.
